Оборудование: карта Башкортостана, компьютер, плакаты.
Organization moment. Creeting pupils, asking who is on duty, the date and the day.
I. Teacher. Today we’ll speak about ecology. We’ll go deeper into the environmental problems. Mankind believed that whatever we did, the Earth would remain the same. We understand that it isn’t true. There are a lot of problems that people face nowadays.
The most important problem is an ecological one. What is ecology? Ecology is the science that studies the conditions of the habitat of man, animals, plants. Today we understand it is very important to solve the environmental problems. What are the most serious environmental problems?
P1. Pollution of water, air.
P2. Growth of population.
P4. Destruction of countryside beauty.
Teacher. You are right. All these problems are very important. I want you to discuss them.
P1. I’ve always been interested in how water influence our civilization. Water is responsible for our existence and correct working. Human organism mostly consists just of water. Without it any man, animal wouldn’t survive. Human’s activity has begun to bring harm. A large part of water is polluted. Now we begin to see the importance of water when the water resources in many regions of world cannot cover what is needed.
P2. Recycling is very important for the protection of our environment. Recycling is a three – step process – collecting, remanufacturing and reselling. Thought recycling is rather expensive it’s still extremely important. Making new products out of recycled ones reduces the amount of energy needed in production. Recycling also reduces our waste sent to landfills. Sometimes people put all their waste in one bad which makes it difficult to recycle. It would be easier to recycle if people separate different types of recyclable goods before they arrive at the site.
P3. We live near the rive Ik. Many years ago it was deep. People used to fish a lot. Nowadays people like fishing , but they leave and throw litter, bottles into the river. Fish and reptiles can’t live in the polluted water. Water pollute/ion affects human health in disastrous ways. We have a limited supply of water. And if we continue to pollute available water, it will definitely lead to disease and death. If we work hard to conserve our wetland and rivers – the source of our drinking water – there’s hope for a brighter future.
P4. Deforestation is the main ecological problem nowadays. Forests are cut down for many reasons. The biggest driver of deforestation is agriculture. It has many negative effects on the environment. Every year world industry pullets the atmosphere with tons of dust and other harmful substances. People from many cities suffer from smog. Forests are disappearing and this upsets the oxygen balance. Seventy percent of land animals and plants live in the forests and many cannot survive the deforestation that destroys their homes.
P5. We should keep our district tidy. It is our home. There are many springs in our district. It is wonderful to drink some spring water. So we should clean springs.
P6. Every year after winter we see a lot of rubbish in our town, along the roads. People drop old things, clothes, plastic bags. We should learn to reduce, reuse and recycle too.
II. Now children, I think it’s time to play.
Can you fill the missing letters?
1) Greenhouse effect. The Earth is becoming warmer because there is too mach carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
2) Ecology. The study of how living things interact with each other.
4) Environment. It means simply what is around us.
III. Work with cards. Answer the questions.
Teacher. 1) Do we have pollution in our district (air, water, land pollution)? 2) Does our river suffer from pollution? 3) What is a result of people investigation?
IV. Teacher. Look at the pictures, describe them and answer the question.
Picture 1. (Children are swimming in the river.)
Teacher: Are the children enjoying the nature? Is this place beautiful or polluted?
Teacher. What can you see in the these pictures?
P1. The men are cutting down the trees.
P2. The men are washing their cars near the river.
P3. The men left litter and campfire , so fire was started.
Teacher. We see what happens when people break rules. So, what shouldn’t the men do?
P1. They shouldn’t leave litter into the river. We mustn’t drop it into thr river, we must pick up it.
V. Teacher: You see the rubbish problem is very important now. Look at the poster: “Litter last’s.” You can see a traffic ticket lasts 1 month.
Glass containers – they never decay.
Each person in our town throws away 2 – 3 kilograms of trash every day. Ecology is one of the global problems nowadays. What should we do? We should protect our planet. Everyone should look at what they throw away. Many things can be reused and recycled.
VI. Making a project “The tree of good deeds”.
Teacher. What can you personally do to help the environment today? Tell one thing you do to help the environment. (Students work in 2 groups. One group generates ideas what we should do and the other group what we shouldn’t do to help our planet clean.)
VII. Teacher. We’ve already spoken about ecology and the importance of keeping the environment clean. Pollution is getting worse and worse. But we’ll hope for the best. Children, suggest some important rules to protect the environment.
P1. Do not pick wild flowers.
P2. Plant trees and flowers.
P3. Clean rivers and springs.
P4. Feed birds and help them.
P6. Do not litter the ground with bottles, cans, paper.
VIII. Teacher. You were great. It’s our duty to help the planet. Let’s think about the future. Let’s keep our planet tidy and make it the best place to live in.
